The Story of Peacock Pavilions
Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away, there was an American family who fell in love with a city that was not their own, a city called Marrakech. They loved it so much that they packed their bags, said their goodbyes, and left to make it their new home. After some trials and tribulations - that read like a novel - they bought a little olive grove in Marrakech. The olive grove was tucked away in a quiet place 13 kilometers outside of Marrakech and was a favorite place for song birds to build their nests.
The man in this family was an architect. One day he gathered around him stacks of white paper and a fistful of sharpened pencils and got to work. Several weeks and overflowing wastepaper bins later, he finished designing not only a house, but two stylish guesthouses. Together, they would become known as Peacock Pavilions, named after the peacocks that roamed the olive grove.
Many months went into building Peacock Pavilions. A crew of 20 skilled men built everything by hand. The architect made certain that the house and two guesthouses were not only beautiful but also kind to the earth, using green building techniques plucked from the deserts of Arizona. As for the guesthouse interiors, they were planned to ensure charming luxury for guests — every room unique and filled with hand-picked objects from around the world.
If it all sounds lovely, that’s because it is.
Peacock Pavilions will open its doors in March 2009. Native English speaking hosts will cater to your every whim. But don’t take our word for it. Come and live the story for yourself.
